The Middle Atlantic Bight also known as the Mid-Atlantic Bight or MAB is a geographic reference to a general area of the Atlantic Continental Shelf waters from North Carolina to Massachusetts. The exact boundaries are arbitrary (which specific points in North Carolina and Massachusetts and how far offshore it extends).
Even though the name also has a particular geological meaning, it is often used to describe this part of the Atlantic Ocean in wider context. When it is used in this manner it is describing all of the ocean from the seafloor to the surface.
The Middle Atlantic Bight overlaps the New York Bight.
