Trout Magnet Mini Magnet Review
The trout magnet mini magnet is a lure consisting of a jig head and soft plastic body combination. The jig head is a shad dart style head, weight of 1/200 ounces, and a size 14 hook. The soft plastic body is a streamlined split tail grub. Combined weight 0.008 oz or 0.22 grams. Combined length of about three quarters of an inch.
This is a mini version of the trout magnet. Its size and weight is sub ultralight fishing and essentially just a fly. It's marketed towards trout fishermen, but the lure will work for any predatory fish that eats bugs or tiny minnows. To fish this with spinning tackle, you will need to use it in a rig that can provide enough weight to cast. Some rig options include: as a teaser, float and fly, double jig rig, or on a dropper rig.
If you have never fished a small fly-sized lure before, this is a great starter option. If you are fishing for some smaller fish or pressured fish and find the regular trout magnet is still too big, try downsizing to this lure. This lure still presents well on 4 lb test, not required to use 2 lb line.
